More than 250,000 applications with record growth of 861.5 % over last year, Android is becoming a first choice mobile platform for Mobile manufacturers, Service Providers to Mobile Developers. Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. The Android SDK provides the tools and APIs necessary to develop applications on the Android platform using the Java programming language.
This session will give a Kick-start to develop an Android App and focus on:
- All tools and softwares needed to get you on your first Android app.
- The high level architecture in Android applications.
- Fundamentals and key components for Android application.
- How to get your application on Android market?
Session will be concluded with a demo of Google App Inventor to demonstrate how you can develop and install some cool apps in few minutes.
Lightning Talk: Mobile is The New Cool
Pretty soon a mobile device will be more popular than a computer; pretty soon that device will be an android device. This talk is a practical example of how one company (TripAdvisor) developed its android app.

Featured Speaker: Deepak Goyal
Deepak is technology enthusiast with a MS in Computer Science and Technology from IIT Roorkee. Deepak has been working in Java based mobile technology for several years. He has architected and developed various Mobile and Enterprise solution (i.e. GPS navigation System, Bluetooth based trading System, Calender application etc). Some of his application has been featured in Java ONE conference. Deepak has more than 10 years of engineering experience with Sun Microsystems and Cisco Systems and various other startups. He has presented several papers at International conferences and premier education institutes across United States, China and India. He has several pending patents.
Before founding his latest startup eZdia Inc he founded Wings Technologies (A Remote Mobile Device Access Solution company) in Bangalore, India.
Lightning Talk Speaker: Andrew Charkin
Andrew is a Carnegie Mellon alum majoring in CS (2010). Starting at TripAdvisor, his first project was to develop the Android hybrid app in about 3 weeks. Andrew had to deal with most of the Android quirks firsthand and is the perfect candidate to talk about how TripAdvisor developed the Android app.
